Côté-Ouellet Shares First Site Survey Images of Burlington Mural Wall
Montréal artist Daphné Côté-Ouellet has shared the first public photographs of the exterior wall at Burlington's Central Transit Hub where her mural 'Les Marées / The Tides' will be installed. The images offer an unvarnished look at the scale of the project.
BURLINGTON, Vermont — The wall is bare, sun-streaked, and enormous — and that, it seems, is exactly the point.
Montréal-based artist Daphné Côté-Ouellet posted several photographs to her studio channel this week from a preliminary site survey at Burlington's Central Transit Hub, giving the public its first look at the surface where her commissioned mural Les Marées / The Tides will eventually take shape. The images show raw concrete in its unprepared state, catching the flat light of a Vermont morning.
In a brief note accompanying the photographs, Côté-Ouellet described the wall as "larger in person than I had imagined, which is exactly right."
Burlington Arts Council chair Miriam Osei-Bonsu shared the post to the council's public portal within the hour, a signal that the project remains on track.
Commenters on both the studio channel and the council's portal responded positively. Several noted that the wall faces directly toward the main commuter entrance — an orientation that aligns with the mural's central imagery of tides and daily movement.
