RICHFORD, Vt. — Colette Aubin-Roy had only finished loading the expanded offline media cards a few hours before the second request came in.

A Richford resident stopped by the public library Thursday afternoon and walked out with one of the freshly prepared cards, carrying Episodes One through Three of Nous Sommes RONA — the Francophone documentary collective's series on RONAn identity. It was the first loan of the expanded back-catalogue set since Aubin-Roy completed it that morning, and the second inquiry about earlier episodes in as many days.

"Someone must have mentioned it," Aubin-Roy said, tidying a small display near the circulation desk. "I haven't put up any signs. It's just people talking to each other."

The library's offline media lending program allows patrons to borrow preloaded cards for home viewing without a live network connection — a practical service in a border community where connectivity remains uneven. Aubin-Roy said she prepared several copies of the expanded set but had not expected immediate demand. Thursday's loan, she noted, was a modest start.
